If you need to get yourself up to speed with the fundamentals of internet marketing and social media marketing, this workshop is for you. The session is entirely web based, utilising detailed, live online demonstrations and case studies; it is NOT theory driven, and powerpoint won't get a look-in (bad news for all the slide junkies out there). This is the same workshop that has recently been delivered to organisations such as NRMA, Nestle and The Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.
Who should come along: marketing execs, comms execs and hands-on business owners. The presentation format is informal boardroom style, limited to 18 people. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea is provided.
Workshop Program
1. Your Organisational Website - Getting More Juice for the Squeeze
- Master the fundamentals of search engine optimisation – substantially increase the quality of search traffic to your website for lead generation and sales purposes. Learn how to create your own industry targeted keyword lists, and how to position keyword rich content across the whole of your website.
- Engage your website visitors and keep them coming back with ‘web 2.0’ interactive content such as streaming video, polls, and real-time industry specific news feeds (see examples below).
- Set up free Google Analytics – calculate and report on the effectiveness of all of your online initiatives as measured by your own website conversion goal data.
2. Grounded Social Media for Organisations (vs. a pie in the sky approach)
- Examine the various ways social media may be effectively applied within your own organisation: as a market research ‘listening post’, for marketing communications outreach, for industry thought leadership, or as a customer service/ engagement touch-point.
- Look beyond social media as just 'the bird and the book' - Twitter and Facebook; broaden your social media communication options with established platforms such as YouTube, Flickr, Wikipedia and LinkedIn.
- Learn how to set up your own free social media brand monitoring tools (see online monitoring widget example below).
- Set up an industry or consumer blog to foster online networking, raised industry level visibility and credibility, or for search engine optimisation.
3. 'Content Marketing' as a Key Online Strategy Plank
- Lift the profile and credibility of your brands by educating, helping and informing your target customers online.
- Establish your organisation - or yourself - as a thought leader within your industry by publishing layers of useful and relevant content to the web.
- Build up a repository of optimised multimedia content - online newsletters, videos, articles, images, white papers, tip sheets, online calculators, podcasts, etc - to serve as a magnet for the search engines and potential customers ('blended search optimisation').
- Neutralise the growing influence of online brand detractors by creating defensive walls of optimised web and social media content around each of your brands.
Interactive content examples: Streaming Video (YouTube) / Google Maps and Streetview / Customised Driving Directions / Audio Widgets / Interactive Polls / Customised Industry News Feed / Online Monitoring Widget / Live Social Media Streaming
